A Legal nurse is an umbrella term for a large range of work that experienced nurses can provide in the legal world. From the most well-known expert witness to the behind-the-scenes Legal Nurse, all LNC roles have the power to change a case outcome.

BUT there is so much more an expert has to offer an attorney. As an experienced nurse just getting my grounding in the LNC world I have provided some case merit certifications as well as denials and a case report. Through these experiences I have learned SO much, and really have grasped how I can help attorneys win their case, plaintiff or defense, from behind the scenes.

So what can a behind the scenes LNC really offer? We can offer you the insight of an experienced nurse who can pick up on a lot that an MD expert will overlook, or just straight up not disclose for a multitude of reasons.

I cherish my MD providers, but as a nurse I am the one helping them navigate the charting system, the dictator is writing their notes. Yeah, sure they use the system, but often they don’t KNOW and understand the system. This gap leaves a lot of room for oversight. By having a LNC organize the medical records and share pertinent information with the attorney a lot of oversight can be addressed, BEFORE you are caught off guard.

Using a LNC’s as an expert is certainly needed for obvious reasons, but should you only preserve us for the expert witness role, you hinder yourself to limited insight and information from the Legal Nurse. Expert witnesses are required to keep their opinion as objective as possible, don’t you want someone to give you the down and dirty? Often these minute details can make or break an outcome, or a case.
